SUICIDE WATCH – Global Warning review

SUICIDE WATCH – Global Warning
Marquee Records
The band SUICIDE WATCH comes from the United Kingdom and they were formed in 2003 by musicians that wanted to create politicized thrash metal music. In 2005 they released their debut live album entitled “Live Winter Death” and in the same year they also released their debut studio album under the title “Global Warning”. Marquee Records gives us the chance to listen to these two albums again in this CD release.
THE COVER: The artist of the cover is no other than the famous Ed Repka and besides it being beautiful and unique it reflects perfectly the lyrical theme of the band’s songs. It is a very detailed picture and I will try to give you a hint about it in a few words. On the background you can see a city in riot and cops trying to suppress it and also a child crying and other people making a suicide jump. Finally in front of all these you can see a man in costume cutting his throat with a knife he holds in his own hand. The message is pretty clear about where we are headed to when we put money and profit above all.
MUSICAL STYLE: Actually here we have two albums in one CD and so you will have the chance to listen to 23 songs of pure aggressive thrash metal. SUICIDE WATCH musically are a riff based band and their style is close to bands like SLAYER and KREATOR, but you can also find in their sound influences from the bay area thrash metal scene and they reminded me of bands like ANTHRAX and early METALLICA. Since this is the debut album I think it is natural for the band to show its influences, but besides that SUICIDE WATCH also add their own style to these influences and make them distinguishable. Also by listening to their live album they made me think that these guys must be killer on stage because they breathe out raw energy which makes your adrenaline pump and your head bang.
CONCLUSION: My friends here we have pure old school thrash metal and an album that is made to be played loud… I think the fans of the sound will approve this release. So, check it out…
