TARCHON FIST – Celebration review

 TARCHON FIST – Celebration
Independent
Ah, TARCHON FIST from Italy is a band I appreciate much and it goes without saying that it is a band that deserves more attention. I think there is a kind of prejudice for bands that come from countries like Italy and Greece, because if these bands came from Sweden or Germany, now they would be considered a well respected name at least. Of course it is not only prejudice, but the poor distribution that these bands usually get.

“Celebration” is their fourth album which was released by them and is distributed/promoted by Pure Steel Records since their former label has closed (it is a real pity to know this since My Graveyard Productions offered us some very good releases). For those who have their previous albums, like me, you will notice that the new album includes songs that were also included in the previous works of the band. It is a kind of compilation and I think that TARCHON FIST with this move want to re – introduce themselves to a bigger audience since their previous works are a bit hard to find.
As a band that characterizes itself as heavy metal and respects itself, TARCHON FIST can’t ignore the JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN legacy. On the contrary these guys build their songs based on the teachings of these two great bands and also introduce to their sound some European power metal elements that bring to mind early HELLOWEEN and RUNNING WILD. These guys, though, in comparison with so many clone bands out there manage to give to their song their own touch, their own vision. Their heavy metal is melody driven (and the melodies are really catchy and for me this is what makes a song memorable) with a steady and dynamic rhythm section. The vocals surely belong to the Bruce Dickinson school. Also the band blends its sound with some great screaming guitar solos and choruses that you can sing along to.
On the info sheet that came with this promo the band states they are a live band and I think that it is obvious from their songs, because they are made in a way that force the listener to participate, to play air guitar, sing along etc. Personally speaking, I think that TARCHON FIST is a band you should discover and this release will be a good start for you…
